Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Massachusetts
Tentant rights
I had an apartment for two weeks, in that time I was cleaning the place up to move in, gave first and last and sighned no lease of any kind. The night before I was going to move I had some issues I couldn't move. I told him the next day when I gave my key back and the landlord said he didn't have my money to give back to me. Didn't say how much. Two weeks later he only gave me last months back, am I entiled to the full amount where I did not move in and only had the key for two weeks and did all the cleaning for him. Should he give me the whole amount of first months or half or what. Please let me know how much time he has to give it back to me if applies. Thanks

Re: Tentant rights
From the facts given, since a tenant at will, which is what the facts indicate you were, must give 30 days notice to terminate, the landlord would be entitled to the full first month's rent unless he was able to mitigate his damages and rent it to another before the end of that month. Good Luck!
