Legal Question in Personal Injury in Massachusetts
My 15 year old daughter was recently bitten by a dog. the owners of the dog know about this, as they pulled him off of her. I was told this is a homeowners insurance claim for the dog owners. how do I go about getting the insurance information and submitting the medical bills??

You may wish to speak with an attorney. You may give the homeowner/dog owner written notice of your claim, and requset the insurance policy claim information. Certified mail is good for legally documenting your settlement activities. Good Lock.
The easy way is to retain the legal services of an attorney. You would need to have a lawyer who is licensed in the state where the incident occurred. he/she will then handle the insurance claims and seek an appropriate amount of money for your child

A dog bite is a strict liability claim. A dog owner is strictly liable for dog bites unless your daughter was trespassing, teasing, tormenting, abusing the dog.
The homewoner's insurance policy is the appropriate insurer in which to file a claim.
I would encourage you to have an attorney assist you with this claim, usually an attorney would be paid from the proceeds of the recovery or settlement of the claim. However if you wish to handle it yourself, you should ask the dog owner for his/her insurance information and contact the insurer's claims department.
I'm sorry to hear that your daughter was bit by a dog, and I hope she is making a full recovery. As the others have said, it is recommended that you hire an attorney to deal with the homeowner's sophisticated and aggressive insurance company.
You will need to notify the homeowner of your claim, and it is their job to notify their insurance carrier. The insurance company should then step in and handle/defend against your claim. If there is a mortgage on the homeowner's property, they will be required to have homeowner's insurance. If you are not getting anywhere, you will simply need to file suit against the homeowners.
I am sorry to hear about this. My office handles only personal injury cases and we would be happy to give to you a no obligiation, free consultation to discuss this very important matter to you and your family. You get copies of the bills. You mail them to the insurance company. If you do not want to do this yourself lawyers will line up around the block to do this for you.
