Legal Question in Personal Injury in Massachusetts

Insurance Settlement Question

The other day my lawyer told me that the insurance adjuster put a value on my son personal injury claim and because it exceed his authority, he had to submit it to his supervisor for approval!

Please explain what that means, since my lawyer will not explain this to me. Does this means that settlement of this case is near it's end?

Re: Insurance Settlement Question

Your lawyer should answer any and all questions you put to him or her. You are the boss.

That being said, what it means is that the insurance co has give each adjuster authorization to offer so much money. It sounds like in your case the adjuster agrees with your lawyer that the case is worth more than he is authorized to approve and has to talk to someone who can approve the amount

Re: Insurance Settlement Question

It could mean that it is near settlement. What it specifically means is that the adjuster thinks your case is worth X dollars but needs a supervisor to approve paying that much before the matter can be settled.
