Legal Question in Personal Injury in Massachusetts

Jet Ski Accident

I let my brother and his friend use my JetSki at the pond at the end of my street. His friend's son drove to fast onto beach/boat loading area and hit I woman on the beach. He was cited for the accident. She does not have health insurance and asked to have bills paided and loss of wages while she recovers. I was not present at the time of the accident. My brothers friend wants me to pay for half the bills because the Jet Ski belongs to me. Am I resonsible for bills?

Re: Jet Ski Accident

First it depends on how much money she seeks. Second, while you may have some liability, I would suggest that your brother's friend pay for his brother's accident. What his your brother's friend's rationale for seeking contribution from you. It was his action, of lending the JetSki to his brother, without your permission, that put him on the vehicle and that finally caused the accident. Depending on the sought money, and your assets, I would suggest that you seek advice of counsel.
