Legal Question in Personal Injury in Massachusetts

Personal injury for independent contractor instructor

As an independent contractor, I have been teaching computer courses at the same school 15 hours a week (earning $15,000 a year) for over 10 years, with no withholdings on my taxes. The computer lab was so crowded and ergonomically poor that in order to help students I had to twist my neck resulting in constant neck pain and needing chiropractic treatments 1-2 times a week for several years. Now it has become intolerable and I have to leave. Am I entitled to any kind of compensation for my medical bills or pay for having to leave the work for personal injury reasons due to an ergonomically poor environment when I am not officially an employee?

Don't rule out the possibility that under Mass law you may indeed be an employee. The definition of an employee stands, potentially, above what you think you are, and what the employer has titled you.
