Legal Question in Personal Injury in Massachusetts

I just received a letter from a personal injury attorney stating:

"This office represents Mr. X (someone's name was provided) with regard to injuries he sustained in a fall down accident at your property located at (my home address) on September 1, 2010.

Please send a copy of this letter to your insurance carrier so that they can assign an adjuster to this claim for bodily injury coverage and have them contact my office."

Today is January 6th 2011 and this is the first time I'm hearing of this. I do not know who this Mr. X is nor what kind of injuries he sustained. I feel I shouldn't have to be the one filing the claim with my insurance on his behalf. I don't have an attorney and I can't afford to have my homeowner's insurance premiums go up, but I'm not sure what's the best course of action. Any advice would help. Thanks!

You should absolutely retain an attorney to assist you in this matter. You should also forward notice of this potential claim to your insurance company immediately. Your failure to notify your insurance company MAY result in their refusal to provide coverage in the event that you are sued by this individual.
