Legal Question in Personal Injury in Massachusetts

slander?

I was falsely charged with a crime.

The charge obviously did not stick

because there was not one shred of

evidence and it was dismissed. Can I

sue the person who charged me with

this crime? It's cost me a

considerable amount of grief and

lawyer fees, not to mention the

charge will technically always be on

my permanent record.

Retain an attorney to review the matter and advise whether you have a right to sue for slander. Good Luck!

Re: slander?

The wonderfulness of living in our democracy is that we having substantial rights and access to sue others in most instances.

Your factual back story will reveal to your attorney whether your rights have been violated, and if so, by whom, and what remedies might be available to you.

Often the rights of defamtion, abuse of process, wrongful prosecution, infliction of emotional distress, and a host of others may merit legal consideration. Your attorney will be able to evaluate your facts to better assist you.
