Legal Question in Personal Injury in Massachusetts
I started a prescription for High Cholestrol, called Lovastaton. I read the side effects from the pharmacy that came with it. No where on it said anything about hair loss. I noticed a spot on my head, and went to a Dermatologist, had a biopsy, and all kinds of blood work. All fine. Stopping in
another drug store I asked what the side effects of my prescription were and was told hair loss. I called the FDA to see if they new this, they said they give all the pharmacys a print out stating with all known side effects of which hair loss is one of them. However when we asked the FDA why it wasn't on the listed side effects distributed with my prescription (which was on the pharmacy prescription form), they said they could list what they felt important but it is definitely on the FDA printout that is enclosed in EVERY bottle or container that is shipped to all pharmacies. I have been an emotional wreck chasing doctor after doctor trying to get to the bottom of this problem. I now know that it is the drug causing my hair loss and the pharmacy should have warned me and all other patients taking this medication of this very possible side effect of this. I am not even sure if it is going to grow back. I have purchased wigs to cover this very emabaraaing problem. At this present time, i have SEVERAL spots, some of them quite large. What recourse do I have against the drug manufacturer and or pharmacy?

You may have a claim against your doctor, the drug manufacturer and/or the pharmacy. You would probably need to hire a lawyer to pursue such a claim. Good luck. Regards, JBS
