Legal Question in Personal Injury in Massachusetts

Can I be sued for forwarding a personal email if...

... the email includes sensitive info between two people (lovers) and would get one of them in trouble for lying? My ex has downplayed the A tremendously to others and made it appear I was the reason our ''reconcilitation'' failed. The reality is, he never terminated contact with her... he omitted they were talking about buying property together.... and she did not move to another country like he has portrayed. He also made it appear my concerns were over-inflated with statements like this. I had finally contacted the other woman while I was still with him and made her realize what he was doing. I still have all emails between the two of them and she and I and would like to forward them to ppl I know he has lied to and made me look crazy. I would send them as PDFs to show text has not been altered.

First off, an Acrobat file in no way proves that the text in it is accurate, from the source depicted, or any such thing.

Second, the law here is not necessarily the issue. Once in a while, even lawyers need to stand up for sanity and morality.

To the extent ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY to vindicate yourself against claims that you have broken the law or committed heinous acts, you would be legally and morally justified in forwarding the e-mails.

Otherwise, all you are doing is perpetuating a war that you cannot win. You will, further, be showing yourself to be not merely justifiably angry, but actively vindictive. In addition, you may in return be accused of fabricating the e-mail (see point #1 above).

In essence, he will use your action to make you look even more crazy. Those who choose to believe him will do so...those you -might- sway may not be worth swaying.

Instead of perpetuating the war, you should do what is necessary to heal and get beyond the issues. And then get some friends and associates who know that you are a decent person, and get on with your life.
