Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Massachusetts

Add husband name to title??

At this time my husband's name is not on the title/deed for the house. We have been married 1 1/2 years. Hypothetically, if we were to divorce would it be better for me if his name was on the deed or not on the deed? A few friends said it would be better for me if he wasn't on the deed while others say he would get more by not being on it. Very confused and want to do what's best for me. He's contributed to $150K in renovations (out of his savings) but hasn't worked in 3 years and hasn't contributed to any of the day-to-day expenses. If he should be added would a Quitclaim suffice? We live in Massachusetts so any insight would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Re: Add husband name to title??

Your question is more appropriate for the family law category. You should probably consult with a family law/divorce attorney for the answers you seek.

Otherwise, a question of whether to add someone to a deed can be quite complex, particularly if there are financial difficulties involved, and potential future actions needed. Good luck.
