broke a lease b/c roomate was using drugs. Landlord wants me to keep paying rent
I broke a year lease on an apartment bacause my roomate was using illegal drugs and it was dangerous for me to stay there. My landlord kept the security deposit for next month's rent, and because he still hasn't found anyone to replace me, wants me to keep paying rent every month. Do I have any rights here because of the safety issue?

Depending upon how the lease is written, the landlord may be able to sue either you or your roommate for all unpaid rent due under the lease.
It is unclear from your post whether your roommate still lives there, or whether he also moved out.
You should constult with an attorney as soon as possible. Please feel free to call my office to set up an appointment.
