Buying a house with tenants
I am buying a duplex which has tenants liveing in one side of it. After the paperwork is done and the sale has gone through are the tenants supposed to be out right away or do we haev to give them notice first and if so how long before we can get them out.

If the tenants have a lease, you will be bound by the terms of the lease. They will not have to leave before the lease expires. If they are tenants at will, chances are that you will be able to ask them to leave by giving one month's written notice on or before the first day of a month.
This is just a quick answer and does not constitute legal advice. You should consult a lawyer to be sure that any notice that you give is given correctly.
If you want a building without tenants, it is probably a good idea to buy a building without tenants. You can never count on being able to get tenants to leave without a few months of legal headaches and expenses.
