Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Massachusetts

My car is being held...

I let my 17yr old neice have my car after I bought a new car. She did not have her license yet, so when she did get it I would sign the title to her. She and her mother were renting a home and storing the car in the garage until she repaired it for use. Eight weeks ago, the two of them moved to another rental unit about 25 miles from there. I obviously was under the impression she would take the vehicle with them. Two days ago, I found out that the car is still in the garage and the two of them were leaving for Fla. in the morning. I called the landlord and he wants me to pay $450. storage to have the car towed. I will have the car towed, but am I responsible for storage. The lease was signed by the mother and I gave the car to the daughter while the title remains in my property. Thank you

Re: My car is being held...

In Massachusetts, the landlord has no right to seize property. Call the police and tell them the landlord is trying to steal your car if the landlord won't let you take it.
