changing of a deed

I need to change the name on the deed to my house how do I go about doing that. My fathers name is on it and we would like to remove that and replace it with my sisters and my name. thank you

It is a simple process; it is a transfer deed where your father deeds his share of the property to you and your sister. This could have tax ramifications. So while the process is simple, the consequences may not be so simple. If you have any questions, you can call me.

Your father has to sign a deed to you and your sister and have it recorded. You may also have to file a gift tax return. Moreover, if your father is approaching medicaid age and will need it, you have to be careful of what you are doing.

But if all you want is to remove his name from the property then have him sign a deed granting all his interest in the property to you and your sister.
