Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Massachusetts

Me and my current roommate signed a 14 month Rental lease for an apartment in Boston, MA. Now, my roommate got fired and has to go back to Europe. I however am going to stay here, and would like to move out of the apartment. Who can help me telling me if the lease can be broken? My realtor is daying that its prabably not possible since we both signed the lease..

You can absolutely break your lease, but you may be responsible for the remainder of your lease term amount. Your landlord must take reasonable steps to rent the apartment, but if s/he cannot, the rent is your responsibility. You might see if you can locate a suitable replacement tenant, and offer that up as a solution to your landlord.
