I am married,husband in jail for 10 years. If I buy a house on my own, does he automaticly own half? Does he need to be on the deed?

Re: Deeds

Your husband should not be on the deed as this may have a negative effect on

your ability to borrow money. Your husband does not automatically get half. He

does have an interest in the property which may be exercised if you still own the

house when you die. However, this right is a right of a husband to share in his

wife's estate and includes all property owned at time of death.
