Being Falsely Evicted

I am renting an 1st flr apt fom my brothe wich lives on the first flr. Because we havd a dis agreement ove some family business he wants to evict me and also tell me who can and can not come in my apt, when i am paying my rent on time and never been late. Can he do that?

If there's no lease, he can, generally, evict you,

but brother or not, it's a long process (2.5 months

minimum, usually, and sometimes years if well-fought)

that has to be followed to the letter and can be cut short.

Meanwhile, he certainly cannot dictate who comes

and goes into your apartment, and as long as you are

paying or even offering rent, he has to follow all

the laws to get you out. -- Unless you have drug dealers

and people in and out that are a danger or disturbance

to other renters, that is ... then he still has to follow

procedures but the process gets shorter.
