Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Massachusetts

My Family just received a eviction notice for 30 days

We moved at this address in 1984 at my sisterinlaw request. We live upstairs in the winter & downstairs in the summer. But in the past few years we had flooding so downstairs were not liveable. We were told we could live there as long as we wanted and not to worry that if we needed help because my husband had two heart attachs. She said she would come and spend a few weeks in the summer. Then this past month she seem different awful nervous and moody. She said to my husband that she was going to sell the house, and she won't discuss it with us. We received a 30 day notice today. My husband and I in poor health. This house was my husband parents house and somehow she took control. She has a beautiful home in Conn. WHY is she doing this? Is there anything we can do?

> You should have a lawyer examine the title to the property and figure out who owns the property. While she has given you a notice to quit, it is very unlikely that you will be thrown out on the street. A judge is likely to allow you time to find a place to live. A lawyer can help you with that as well. If the title search shows that your husband is a part owner, then you can't be evicted.
