Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Massachusetts

foreclosure due to non payment of taxes

is there a way to prevent the town from taking the property w/out paying all of the taxes owed w/out having to sell it? taxes owed are about $25,000 & we have about $10,000? any help would be appreciated.

Re: foreclosure due to non payment of taxes

My best suggestion is that you contact the town and try to work out a payment program and pay them the $10,000 down. Or you have to get a mortgage to repay the taxes. I assume you have no mortgage on the property or the Mortgagee would be foreclosing as well.

Good Luck
