Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Massachusetts
before foreclosure
I saw in my legal notices section of my local newspaper a home that will be in foreclosure soon. I would like to see the inside and decide if this is a home for me. how do I find out what their asking price is? what is my best approach? can I contact the seller directly?

Hi -
My name is Len Foy and I'm an attorney with the real estate law firm of Gould & Gould, our firm represents purchasers at foreclosure auctions such as the one you referenced in your inquiry.
You are free to deal directly with the homeowner, who may or may not be inclined to deal with you. You can deal directly with the foreclosing bank, although for privacy and other reasons the bank may be reluctant to deal with you as well.
Our firm handles cases in Massachusetts and NH, if you'd like more information call us directly at (603) 434-3437.
Regards & Good Luck -
