Grandfather clause build wall on someone else land

Is there a Grandfather clause when someone builds a stonewall around there yard and 30 years later they are being told that the wall is not on there land and they have to take down four feet of this wall.

The issue is not a grandfather clause. Rather, the question is whether you have acquired the property by adverse possession. If you have continously maintained the boundary strip, then you probably own it by adverse possession.
