Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Massachusetts

My huband bought a house site unseen through a friend and unfortunutly found out later that the house is an absolute mess!! The foundation is cracked, the wireing is bad, the floors are all bowed and the roof leaks. My husband thinks the friend had the house illegally inspected because it is in really bad shape!! Is there any way he can find out and maybe get out of this mess he in?The Mortage is 1100 a mouth and we can't really even afford that! Please help!! Any advise will be appreciated.

If the friend and your husband entered into a contract for the real estate, were there any warranties made? Was it represented in the contract that all the items were in proper working order? If there is no contract and your husband accepted title, he may be stuck with the real estate. If there is a mortgage, didn't the mortgage company conduct an inspection of the real estate before lending your husband the money to buy it? There are alot of unanswered questions here. This is a situation where you really should consult personally with an attorney.
