Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Massachusetts
Homeowner Rights After a Property is Purchased
Are there any laws in Massachussets that protect a homeowner after the sale of a property and it is found that major repairs are needed to the dwelling? There was a home inspection before the property was purchased, but due to the contruction/style of the home pipes and plumbing could not be inspected because the pipes are under ground and behind walls. It was found that there is a leak from the bathroom plubming which was pre-existing before the property was purchased as per an inspection form a licensed plumber. Estimates to repair damage are between 10,000.00-12,000.00 dollars.

Re: Homeowner Rights After a Property is Purchased
Its unclear whether you are the Buyer or Seller. If you are a Seller and are being sued, then you may have coverage from your homeowner's insurance for the lawsuit.
If you are a buyer and you discovered this shortly after moving in then you need to contact an attorney and have him review the facts and the P&S to determine if you have any cause of action against the Seller.
If the Seller failed to disclose material conditions that might have changed your decision to buy you might have a lawsuit.
