is it illegal in Mass to have an automatic renewal clause in a real estate listing ageement

I don't know why it would be illegal, so long as it has some way for the parties to terminate the contract at some agreed-upon point in time. In other words, an agreement that renewed over and over in perpetuity is probably void, but an agreement that reads something like - 'this agreement will automatically renew on ____, unless either party terminates this agreement in writing prior to that date' - is more likely to be valid.
