Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Massachusetts

Lease question

If I signed a lease with 2 other people, put down 800 for first, 800 for last, and 800 for security, and the 2 others did not pay their portion, does the landlord/real estate agency have the right to retain my money?

Re: Lease question

It depends on the lease. However, usually all tenants are liable for the full amount. So if one tenant fails, the others must pick up the slack. However, you would be able to go after your co-tenants for any losses you accrued due to their violations of the lease.
