Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Massachusetts

I have lived with in my home for over 10 years. There is a fenced in yard that was there before we moved in. New neighbors moved in and said the fence is on their land and want me to move it. we understood it to be ours and treated it that way. Do I have to move the fence or do I have a case of adverse possession?

This is a complicated question that requires knowledge of a lot of facts that you have not provided. The period for adverse possession is twenty years but you are allowed to "tack on" use of land by prior owners. You should consult an attorney about this matter.
