Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Massachusetts

I have owned my property for ten years. it is a single family home. My insurance company tells me that fema has redone the maps and I am now located in a flood zone and must get flood insurance. The cost is over $2000 dollars a year. Am I obligated to get flood insurance since the house was not located in a flood zone when i purchased it

It depends on whether you have a mortgage or not. You may be under contract to have a certain level of insurance.
