Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Massachusetts

Parking on Property

I own a home and a large wooded (yet clear) lot in Mass. I was asked by a friend to use my yard to park his boat. How do we do that legally. I'm worried about -a falling tree or damage of any kind to his boat.

Thanks!

Re: Parking on Property

Retain a competent attorney to draft an indemnification agreement to be signed by the boat owner acknowleging that, in consideration for your allowing him to store his boat on your lot, he is indemnifying you from any damage to the boat and/or to others, as a result of it being stored there. Good Luck!

Re: Parking on Property

You give him a letter that gives him permission to store the boat and make him responsible for any damages to his boart or any complaints filed as relate to the boat by the local town.

It is in essence a letter agreement.
