Thanks for your question.

I am going to guess from your question that someone has passed away, and that you or someone now owns a piece of property with the deceased owner's heirs. In any event, some of your rights will depend upon the type of ownership, but generally a person who owns property together with heirs (or an estate on behalf of heirs) has the same rights and obligations as any other property owner.

Is there a conflict among co-owners? Is someone proposing or demanding a buyout? Are any of the owners suggesting or threatening to partition the property? Please feel free to give our office a call if you would like to speak to an attorney about your specific situation. We deal with co-owner disputes frequently, and would be happy to assist.
