Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Massachusetts

I would like to know if a person who is selling a house in mass can use a tax attorney who is a partner in a firm verses a real estate attorney? I heard that the tax attorney can get in trouble and it should be done by real estate attorney?

In order to practice real estate law in Massachusetts, an attorney must be licensed to practice law in the Commonwealth and must be in good standing with the Board of Bar Examiners. That being said, while the tax attorney in your question has the license neccessary to represent a seller in a closing, an experienced Massachusetts real estate attorney would have the experience and training to ensure that the closing goes as smoothly as possible.

The only requirement in MA is that an attorney be licensed to practice law in MA. Moreover, most tax attorneys have sufficient knowledge to represent a Seller in the sale of a home absent a complex title issue.
