Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Massachusetts

personal belongings

An ex-business associate and ex-friend has left a lot of his personal belongings in our basement-- as a place to store them until he could get them later. We were amenable to this at the time. They have been there for almost one year. We have repeatedly asked him to remove the belongings and he has made no attempt to do this. We suggested for him to send us some money and we would gladly ship them to him. No response on this. We have sent him 4 e-mails since Nov 25th, 2007 and he has only responded once in December saying that he is in France and will call when he returns to the states. Is there a statute of limitations on how long we have to try to get him to remove these things before we dispose of the property? What should we do? Thank you for any help!

Re: personal belongings

This is strictly a personal suggestion and not a legal one.

Without actually doing so, notify him that you have disposed of his property. His response (or even lack of one) may help you to choose a course of action.
