Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Massachusetts
property damage
I've recently had a corian counter installed in my kitchen. While the installers were working, they caused damage to a wall and window. The company has acknowledged responsibility and offered to have their people fix it. They did a terrible job with counter and I didn't want to have them back in my house to fix anything. I had my own carpenter fix damages. They do not want to reimburse me.
My question: In Mass. am I obligated to have damages fixed by someone's repair people, or can I choose my own repair people and have them compensate me for costs?

Re: property damage
Take your contract to an attoney. The law provides that you should first provide the contractor a reasonable opportunity to cure the defects, unless you have good reason to doubt their ability to do so.
