Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Massachusetts

Property lines

I have been living in my house for almost 11 years. A neighbor recently bought some abandoned property that borders my property. They had a surveyor mark the property lines, and I have a shed and some gardens that run a few feet into their property. What are my legal rights to that space that I have been maintaining?

Re: Property lines

It depends. The first question would be whether the survey is accurate, secondly, how long the shed and gardens had been in place prior to your purchase, and also whether there are any issues with the respective deeds.

As a practical matter, if you and the neighbor have sufficient land, a friendly resolution of any issues is usually best.
