Rental

My fiances father rents an apartment. He is letting her and i stay with him for a few months. Can the landlord make me fill out rental applications and submit to criminal and credit history reports?

You should check your fiance's father's lease to see whether occupancy is specifically limited to only those persons who are named on the lease.

If there is no such provision in the lease, you are on much better ground to refuse his investigation. But realistically, the landlord is allowed to use those tools as a means of screening those persons who will occupy his property.

It is probably not worth the fight in the long run, since it will likely endanger your fiance's father's relationship with his landlord.
