rights of a home buyer

i recently purchased an older home and i want to know what rights do i have after the purchase,problems with home inspection fault- water problems, oil tank fumes thru out home, septic tank problems. shouldn't the home inspector tell us about these problems before us purchasing the home, we paid for this sevice to make sure that the home was up to code, we have 2 young children in the home and the oil fumes are a health hazard, oil tank was not cleaned in a long time says oil burner contractor, i need to know are rights as homebuyers about these issues, what can we do about them, recently we got a letter from the town we are in telling us about a water problem that is against the law and to fix immediatly but the original owner had the same problem for 10 years and didn't have to do any thing about it.

Retain an attorney to review your Purchase agreement and home inspection contract. Depending on their wording and what was disclosed, you may have some recourse against either the Seller or the Inspector or both. Good Luck!
