Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Massachusetts

Can I switch my agent?

I signed a contract to purchase, but the seller's agent did not flag the property as ''under agreement'' or flag it for ''accepted offer''. Is this legal? Can I change my agent based on this, as I am no longer comfortable that she has my interest in mind?

Re: Can I switch my agent?

Did you sign an offer or a Purchase and Sale Agreement? If the person you were dealing with was the Seller's agent and you have not signed any type of agreement with them, you can get your own agent although there will be an argument with the Seller's agent.

Did you get back a signed copy of the offer indicating the offer was accepted? If not, withdraw the offer and get an agent to represent you or an attorney to represent you.

without knowing what you signed and the current details of the situation it is not possible to give you definitive advice.

Good Luck.

The seller's agent is largely irrelevant to your transaction. What is important is the validity of what you transacted, and its impact.

The seller's agent does not and will not represent your interests. If you want somebody to represent your interests get a lawyer.
