Tenant Rights inre: Harrassment and Being Forced out before lease is legally up.
I've had on going problems with my landlord. All forms of harassment: entering apartment without knocking or any notice whatsoever; not fixing building security issues in a reasonable time frame; sexism; harassing phone calls pressuring me out of apartment before my lease is up. He is a slum lord. I want to know what legal recourse I may take or what state or federal agencies I may report him. Thank you.

The landlord is violating or has violated 3 to 4 laws.
I have a letter I send to landlords citing the law that they violate by entering without permission and telling them the financial penalty under the law for violation. I sometimes also cite a law against harassing phone calls and another against him forcing you out prematurely or by any other than use of a court.
In fact, I usually have to add to the list of problems that haven't been fixed in the premises at the same time; then when all is said and done, I warn most landlords, more or less, that if they don't agree within 30 days to pay what the law requires them to pay, another law kicks in to double or triple what they have to pay AND to add my legal fees in, too.
It's pretty effective. Contact me if this matter isn't yet settled.
