Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Massachusetts

unethical lawyer

She is our tenant and she gave us a

letter that complaining about

something with''esq'' initial at the

end of the letter. We took it as a

threat, saying ''don't mess up with

me, I am a lawyer, I know the law

and I will get you back.''. And, she let

her boyfriend (law student) without

asking us, which is ovbiously

violation of lease, so we asked her if

her boyfriend is living with her. It is

obvious, no doubt about it, but she

lied to us saying ''He is just visiting

me a lot''. She lies becasue she

knows it is a violation of the lease,

but living in Mass., there is no rights

to a landload unfortunately. Even if

she is gilty, there is no way that a

landload can win. Especially, in this

case, she is a lawyer, sounds like

nothing we can do about this. I really

desappointed her behavior as a

lawyer, she uses the power for

threating us or others. I just can't

stand there is such a unethical

lawyer in our area. I don't

recommend anybody to hire her. She

is a very very unethical person. She

is violating my rights and my

property. Is there anything I can do

to her?

Re: unethical lawyer

If she is violating the lease, go ahead and evict her, as is your right. You could also request that the boyfriend sign the lease.

But if she is paying rent and not causing trouble, why would you want to evict her?

Re: unethical lawyer

I'm not exactly sure how your rights are being violated by the question you asked. It is obvious that she has done something to anger you but I'm not sure what it is. You are right that the courts in Massachusetts favor tenants but that does not mean that you can not do anything. There are hundreds of Summary Process claims heard every day.
