Re: rape
You can file a criminal complaint and send him to jail where he belongs.
You can sue him civilly for assault and battery. However, there is no point in suing him for money damages if he doesn't have any money or if his insurance does not cover him
Re: rape
You can sue your boyfriend subject to the statute
of limitations for civil claims under Massachusetts
Law. This almost certainly is at least three years
for the common law "torts" of assault and battery
and intentional infliction of emotional distress if
the rape occured in Massachusetts.
You may have a variety of other claims depending on
the circumstances of your case.
I have a great deal of experience representing women
with sexual harassment, sexual assault and rape cases.
I previously obtained a jury verdict for a young woman
who was raped by her supervisor. I have also brought
more than a dozen other cases involving allegations of
sexual harassment and/or sexual assault.
