Legal Question in Sexual Harassment in Massachusetts

sexual harrasment

I recently walked into a conversation my supervisor was having with my office assistant and I only heard a brief amount. I mentioned half jokingly that the conversation didn't sound work related and that ended it and it was a very uncomfortable moment. When my supervisor left, I asked my assistant what the conversation was about and she replied that she didn't want to talk about it but was pretty upset about what he had said to her. She would only tell me that it was inappropriate and upsetting but doesn't want to go into detail. I feel it was sexual in nature, should I report this even though she doesn't want to?

Re: sexual harrasment

Your gut instinct could be right, and it could be wrong. To be honest, you are making a broad generalization based on sheer infernces. I would need to know much more in order to see if the conduct in question is actionable conduct. Perhpas there is even a pattern of hostile behavior you are not aware of? That remains to be seen. I will be in the office tomorrow, and would be happy to speak with you, or your assistant, to talk this one out. Thanks.
