Legal Question in Tax Law in Massachusetts

California Franchise Tax Board Demand to Furnish Tenant Information

I have a longstanding argument running with the state of California about years for which they think I owe taxes but did not live in the state. Recently, after one of many discussions with a representative there, my landlord received a ''Demand to Furnish Tenant Information''.

Is my Massachusetts landlord legally obligated to return this form to California? (She'd prefer to stay out of it altogether.)

Thanks!

Re: California Franchise Tax Board Demand to Furnish Tenant Information

If she was in CA the answer would be an absolute yes.

However, under MA privacy laws I think they have to serve her with a subpoena from a MA court.

You should try to get this resolved ASAP. If not, CA will sue you and then sue on the judgment here to collect.
