Legal Question in Tax Law in Massachusetts
Education Expense - Master in Computer Science
I am a practicing Patent Lawyer (specializing in CS inventions - 10 years of CS work experience certificates etc) completing the masters degree was a condition of my employment.
The question is: does the masters in CS qualify me for a new profession - making the expense ineligible?
My thoughts are as follows - master in Computer Science is not a requirement of any profession ... and (2) because of my ten years of experience (before the MS) and various certificates the Masters did nothing to qualify me for a new profession -
Any insight?

I agree that a MS in Computer Science does not qualify you for a new trade or profession. Therefore, the expenses should be deductible business education expenses.
I hope this helps!
