Legal Question in Traffic Law in Massachusetts

I own a piece of commercial property in Ma. and I have been informed that the State of Ma. will be rebuilding a bridge over a river near the front of my property. They will be temporarily moving the state road onto my property for 2 1/2 years while the construction is completed. I have parking spaces in the front of my retail property and they won't be useable during this time. The project won't begin until early 2013. My retail property is currently for lease for the first time in 35 years and I've been told by my real estate agent that I have very little chance of anyone leasing my property until the construction project is completed approximately 4 years from now. My wife and I are very concerned because we rely on this income to live and pay our bills. What can I do? Is there an attorney that specializes in this type of issue and do I need one. Please help.

You have what is called an "eminent domain" issue. Speaking very generally, the state is not allowed to take your property without providing "just compensation." However, the state often interprets "just compensation" to be far less than what the property owner determines it to be.
