Legal Question in Traffic Law in Massachusetts

Traffic ticket issued in 2002, but I paid in 2007. What will show?

Hi,

I received a traffic ticket for speeding and a rejection sticker violation in 2002. I got sick and was unable to drive for 5 years (per recommendation of my DR).

During this time, my license was suspended for failing to pay the traffic ticket. Well, last year I was told I can start driving again. So I went to the registry and paid my fine for the ticket that was issued in 2002.

As of 8/2007, my license has been active and I've been driving without any problems since.

My question is, if I go to the registry and request a copy of my driving record for the past 3 years, will my 2002 ticket appear because I paid it in 2007?

Will the registry note on my record that the ticket was given to me in 2007 because that is when I paid it? Or will it show up that it was issued to me in 2002?

TIA

It should show up that it was issued in 2002. It will also show that you paid it and your license was reinstated in 2007. Your Massachusetts Driving Record shows all of your driving history from the day you got your permit up to and including the present. (
