Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Massachusetts

Hi. Was born in rhode island with my fathers last name (Jones) on my birth certifcate. The problem is I always went by my mothers last name. My parents were never married. I currently live in MA with a valid drivers liscense, have a state job, and is married with a child. Would it be difficult to change the name on my birth certificate to my mothers name which i have now or should i just go about my business as if it doesn't matter?

If you would like to change your name, you should go to the Probate and Family Court in your county and file a Petition for Name Change. My office would likely be happy to assist you in this for a flat fee. Please feel free to contact us at 617-357-4898.
