Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Massachusetts
My brother and i lived in our family home until he moved out 3 years ago and not on good terms. My sister and I are the woners of the home. He has a lot of items still on the property. Can I sell them?

You have to store them. However, you can sell his items to pay for the storage. If I were in your shoes, I would hire someone to contact him, and to handle it for me. The best thing for everyone would probably be having your brother come and pick up his stuff. Perhaps a third party can convince him that he needs to come pick it up, or else. Because of the implied ability to take action, I would hire an attorney to write this letter - it shouldn't take more than a half an hour. However, I would probably pay someone cheaper to actually negotiate the transfer of the items into storage. Good luck!

I would suggest that you send him a certified letter with return receipt and ask him what he wishes to do with the property, as a first step.
