Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Massachusetts
change recipient of estate w/o attorney
We have a codicile for a change we made for name of one recipient in case spouse dies. We would like to eliminate name of grandchild included as recipient of estate in this case. Can we legally white out name in will and add our initials to change and have a notary public stamp it to make it legal or do we have to see a lawyer to change it?

You will need to do a new codicil. White out will render the document invalid.

You need to do a codicil. Do not use white out on the Will, if you improprely change a Will you may invalidate it. A simple codicil to remove a beneficiary should not be expensive.
I would contact an attorney and have it done properly.
