Family Property and Will

Dad died 4 mos ago and before he died he told us the family home would remain in the our family and step mom would have lifetime residence, then when she died, we would get home. Step mom has transferred the home to her sister now for $1 and never told us, info was found on the town file. She is leaving us out. She nor lawyer will provide copy of dads Will. First she said it didnt have to be probated now since I requested a copy she said it is going to probate, this is after the property has already been transferred to her sister. I think she is stalling us maybe to miss deadlines or something. Dad left life ins with me, his daughter, as beneficiary. Somehow step mom got check mailed to her. Not sure how she did that since ins company originally wouldn't talk to step mom only to me since I was beneficiary. Step mom came up with some paperwork later and sent it to the ins company. I tried to get a copy of the Will from probate but they said it has never been filed. We asked the lawyer for a copy of the Will and he said we have to get it from step mom. We don't have much money for legal fees. What should we do since we think something illegal may have been done here?

I am sorry for your loss of your father.

You could demand production of a copy of the Will and retain an attorney to do so if it is not forthcoming and 90 days have past since your father's death. Good Luck!
