Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Massachusetts

Who is the grantor and benficiary of a trust

How can I find out who the grantor and beneficiaries are of a trust? I have identified a piece of property that is owned by a realty trust. I want to contact the owner but all I can find is the trustee. For various reasons I do not want to go through the trustee. When a trust is established is there paperwork filed similar to a corporation filing? If so, where is it filed and is is public information?

Re: Who is the grantor and benficiary of a trust

When a realty trust (also known as a nominee trust) is created, the only items which get recorded at the Registry of Deeds are the deed into the trust and either the trust itself or a Trustee's Certificate, which provides the name and address of the trustee. The information about the beneficiaries of a realty trust is normally not recorded.

You will need to contact the trustee. If you do not wish to make that contact yourself, you may wish to hire a lawyer to make an inquiry on your behalf.
