My best guess is that in all likelihood you are one of the next-of-kin of the decedent. In that case, if the will does not waive sureties on the bond, then a surety bond will need to be purchased, which costs the estate money. This is avoided if all of the next-of-kin assent to the petition for probate. You are not obligated to do so.
